NEED SOME HELP?

TROUBLESHOOTING

ORDERING

How can I try a template before purchasing?

All of our templates have a link in the listing description that says “try before you buy”. Click the link to be taken to a fully editable demo within Templett.

If you decide to purchase, simply head back to our shop, purchase the template and wait for the email from Templett containing your login information.

I never received my template

Once you checkout and your payment has processed, it takes 5-10 minutes for Templett (the online editing platform) to create your account and email you the link. If it’s been 30 minutes and you still haven’t gotten an email, make sure to check that you entered the right email address and that the email didn’t get hung up in your spam folder.

Still no email? That’s okay. Just go here and follow the prompts to access your Templett account.

I already have a Templett account but don’t see my template

Templett uses the email address you entered at checkout (or if you purchased on Etsy, the email address associated with your Etsy account) when creating your account. If you used a different email address when checking out, you will now have two separate Templett accounts.

Reach out to us and we’d be happy to share your template with your Templett account of choice.

Can I cancel my order?

Due to the instant, digital nature of this product, orders cannot be canceled once they’re placed. But if you’re running into issues with your template, just contact us and we’ll be happy to help out.

Do you offer refunds?

We give you the option to try out all of our templates long before paying a dime (just click the “try before you buy” link in the item description), so hopefully you never feel the need to request a refund. Sadly, once a template is purchased, we can’t offer refunds for printing, trimming, mailing or not-reading related issues. If you run into an issue with our templates themselves, send us an email and we’ll be glad to help you out or issue a full refund.

EDITING

I’m having trouble editing text

Click here to learn all about editing text size, color, fonts, etc.

How do I access alternate letters and glyphs?

Glyphs are extra characters that you can use in fonts. These characters can allow you to use accent marks with letters, access other language characters, and even add more decorative letters to use in your fonts.

Click here to see how to access glyphs and alternate letters.

How do I add a photo or artwork?

You have the option to add photos, artwork or additional graphics to your template.

Click here to learn how to add images to your design.

How can I undo changes?

Once you’ve exited the design area, changes cannot be undone. If you’d like to undo changes made during the current design round, simply click the ‘undo’ button in the upper lefthand corner of the Templett screen.

Can I upload my own font?

No, not at this time.

Can I change the size of my template?

Sadly, Templett doesn’t allow you to change the size of your template, so we highly recommend purchasing a template in the correct size that you need to begin with.

DOWNLOADING

Should I download my template as a PDF, JPG or PNG?

That depends on where and how you’ll be printing your templates.

PDF

PDFs are great when you plan to print at home or at any office supply chain or copy and print center. Templett PDFs are vector files so the quality is very high and the text and other vector objects should remain perfectly sharp. Any raster images on the template will automatically be 300 dpi.

JPG

You’ll usually want to use the JPEG format when you’re having your designs printed online printer or at a traditional print shop. The reason for this is mostly due to the bleed and the requirements of the printers. You typically will not want to use JPEG when printing at home.

PNG

PNG images are only meant for sharing on the web. The quality is limited to 72 dpi and is not good enough for print.

What download options should I choose?

Templett allows you to choose the following:

Bleed

This is an optional 1/8″ margin that’s added to all four sides of your template. Most professional print shops will require a bleed, but they sometimes come in handy when printing at home as well. We recommend using a bleed when the finished print will need to be trimmed.

Trim Marks

If you or your print shop (such as Kinkos or FedEx Office) will need to trim your template, it’s a good idea to use trim marks. When using the trim marks option, a bleed is automatically added to the template. This helps when you are printing on the front and back of the page because when a page is flipped over in the printer and the back side is printed, the printer cannot always align the paper perfectly. In fact, there is usually always a small amount of shift. The bleed helps make this shift unnoticeable when the template is trimmed.

Save Paper

Just like the name implies, this option allows you to save paper (and money!) by printing multiple copies on a single sheet of US Letter or A4 paper. This option works with any size template as long as it’s smaller than a sheet of paper.

For example, if you are editing a 5″x7″ template and you are ready to print, you may want to fit two templates to a page to save paper.

Resolution

If you’ve opted to download your file as a JPG, you’ll be asked to also specify a resolution. For print, always choose 300 dpi. For web, always choose 72 dpi.

Where does my file go once I’ve downloaded it?

All files  will go to the default downloads folder on your computer. Alternately, most browsers will also show the downloaded files at the bottom of the browser window.

PRINTING

Can I print on pre-cut paper?

Sure! But be forewarned, some home printers can’t print all the way to the edge of the page. If you have a full-bleed design (one that prints all the way to the edge) the printer will leave a 1/4″ white margin on all four sides of your design.

In those cases, it’s best to print in paper save mode and trim out your invitations using a paper cutter.

Why is there a white border around my design?

Some home printers can’t print all the way to the edge of the page. If you have a full-bleed design (one that prints all the way to the edge) and you’re trying to print on pre-cut paper, the printer will leave a 1/4″ white margin on all four sides of your design.

The only way to fix this is to print in paper save mode and trim out your invitations using a paper cutter.

Why do my invitations look blurry?

We recommend downloading your design as a PDF, which is a 300 dpi vector (professional print quality) image perfect for printing at home or at a print shop.

That being said, some printers just print a higher quality than others. We recommend test printing with a few different quality settings to see what looks good to you. If you’re still running into issues, you might try asking to borrow a friend’s printer or taking your files to a local print shop.

My printer keeps jamming

Not all home printers were made to handle cardstock. It should say in your printer’s manual what weight paper it can handle. Anything more than that may cause your printer to leave black streaks on the page or to jam. The only way to know for sure is to sample a few different cardstock weights and see what works best with your printer.
